Fishing with Captain Jos was one of the highlights of our recent trip to Alaska.   I have two small children, but my husband loves fishing so we settled on a half day trip.  We have done a number of charters in the past and I know from experience that it can be difficult to catch fish on a short trip.  Not for Captian Jos! He gave us easy instructions to meet up on the dock. We were quickly underway on a clean comfortable boat. In no time we had our gear in the water and shortly thereafter we had our first fish on board.  I prefer to sit back and enjoy the scenery while letting my husband do most of the fishing. Captain Jos was able to keep the guys happy, with consistent fishing, while also finding time to share stories about Alaska and share his incredible salmon dip with the ladies.  A great trip for our family with a great Captain. I give Captain Jos 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend that anyone looking for an incredible Alaska Adventure, give Alaska Go Fish a call.

I am originally from Ketchikan Alaska and I do my best to get back there every year.  The boat I grew up on is no longer available so for the past few years I have been hiring charter captains for my fishing trips.  It really is great to get out on the water and let someone else do all the work, while I just get to reel in the fish. Over the past five years I have done 8 charters with five different Charter Captains.  Each of the previous Captains did a good job and provided a good experience. But on our trip with Captain Jos, it was a whole new level. I was extremely impressed with his ability to quickly find and bring in the target fish.  Anyone can catch pinks when they are running, but trophy fish are the real challenge and Jos knows how to get it done. On our trip we brought in several Kings and four Coho on a short 4-hour trip. I think my search is done. From now on when I return home I am booking with Captain Jos!

Great Captain – Fun Fishing Trip
We just got back from our Alaskan Cruise, and one of the highlights was salmon fishing with Captain Jos. The boat was clean and comfortable. They took my family of 4 (2 Teens) for a private salmon fishing trip. We fished for 4 hours, and were able to land one King, 2 Coho, 2 Pink, and a Rock Fish. Jos told some great stories, and was working hard to catch fish. He was changing lures, and depths and did his best to get us the most fish possible. We knew fishing was going to be a bit slow since we were at the tail end of King, and the very beginning of Pink, but as you can tell from our catch we did quite well. Jos worked hard until the very end, and even got us one more as we were reeling the lines in to go back to port.

As we were heading back, he pulled out homemade smoked salmon spread, which was outstanding. I nearly ate the full jar myself. My whole family enjoyed the experience, and I would definitely recommend going with this captain and outfitters again.

They also handle all of the fish processing, so at the end, we just filled out a form on the boat, and we were done. We should be receiving our fish this week. It couldn’t have been easier. I’m looking forward to eating our fresh caught fish.

Super Captain, Clean Boat, Good Fish
We fished with Captain Jos in September 2017. Captain Jos worked super hard to make sure that everyone on the boat got onto the fish. He is really a nice friendly personable guy with great experience in Ketchikan waters.

The boat was clean, even the restroom. Jos had bottled water and even served us some smoked salmon to help our fish luck 🙂

By the end of the day we had all caught salmon. My only regret is that I would have liked more time!

Capt Jos(Jaws)-Great Salmon Fishing Experience
While on our Alaska cruise, on Aug 10, 2017, four of us went on our first salmon fishing excursion with Big Fish Charters. Unfortunately, the four of us had to split up 2 in each boat due to other families, which turned out OK. Since the others on our boat were brothers who were very experience fisherman who were fun to talk and fish with and we got Capt Jos(Jaws). I am a novice fisherman But Jaws made the experience great. He had great stories to share with us, help all with advise to catch some salmon, work very hard to move the boat to where the fish were, pointed out wildlife(eagles and sea lions), preparing the rod and us so we were not just sitting around and made sure we were all were getting hits. At one point, the three of us were on separate rods reeling in salmon at one time. Jaws even convinced Ed and me to ship the fish home,–we caught 4 Coho and 2 pink salmon-thanks Jaws!. I would highly recommend requesting Capt Jos(Jaws) for a fun salmon fishing experience.
